Indications
Ascoril Plus Expectorant Expectorant is used for:
Productive cough associated with bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, and emphysema.
Adult Dose
Oral
Adult: 1-2 tsf 3 times daily

Contra Indications
Hypersensitivity to any of the component in the preparation. Children below 3 years of age.
Precautions
Cautious use is recommended in patients with hepatic impairment, renal impairment, chronic lung disease, cardiac failure, hypertension, high fever, hyperthyroidism, arrhythmias, pulmonary edema, diabetes mellitus, convulsive disorders, history of peptic ulcers and in breast feeding & pregnant women.

Adverse Effects
Side effects of Guaifenesin + Terbutaline + Bromhexine :
The common adverse events are angina, tremor, headache, anorexia, muscle cramps, palpitations, nausea, irritability, insomnia, heartburn, gastritis, anxiety, nervousness, central nervous disturbances. Behavioral disturbances may occur in children.
Mechanism of Action
Terbutaline is a direct-acting sympathomimetic which relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by selective action on beta2 receptors. It also decreases uterine contractility.
Bromhexine is a mucolytic.
Guaifenesin increases the volume and reduce the viscosity of tenacious sputum and is used as an expectorant for productive cough.
