Mechanism of Action
Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal which binds to phospholipids in the cell membrane altering cell wall permeability causing a loss in essential intracellular elements.
Selenium sulfide has antifungal and antiseborrhoeic properties. It is active against Pityrosporum ovale, a yeast-like fungus that is part of the normal flora of the scalp. It also has a cytostatic effect on cells of the epidermis and follicular epithelium, thus reducing corneocyte production.
