Indications

Evamed Syrup is used for: Constipation, Hepatic encephalopathy

Adult Dose

Oral Adult 2 teaspoonfuls (20g) once or twice daily with plenty of water

Contra Indications

Patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the active substance. Gastro-intestinal obstruction. Galactosaemia.

Precautions

Lactose intolerance.

Side effects of Lactitol : Abdominal distension, flatulance and abdominal cramp.

Mechanism of Action

In the colon it is broken down to short chain organic acids and increases osmotic pressure in the colon, thereby causing an increase in the stool water content and stool volume.
