Indications
Gatilox DM Eye Drop is used for:
Steroid responsive ocular inflammatory conditions with involvement of bacteria like blepharitis, scleritis, episcleritis, iritis, cyclitis, iridocyclitis, choroiditis, optic neuritis and chronic anterior uveitis, disciform and interstitial keratitis, allergic corneal marginal ulcers, corneal injury from chemical radiation or thermal burns, allergic conjunctivitis.
Adult Dose
Adult: : Instill 1 drop 2 hrly into affected eye(s) up to 8 times daily for the 1st 2 days, then reduce to 1 drop 4 times daily on days 3-7.

Contra Indications
Contraindicated in fungal disease of ocular structures, viral conjunctivitis and in patients who are hypersensitive to any of the components of this preparation.
Precautions
For ophthalmic use only. If the product is used for 10 days or more, intraocular pressure should be monitored routinely.

Adverse Effects
Side effects of Dexamethasone 0.1% + Gatifloxacin 0.3% :
Mild burning, chemosis, redness may occur.
Mechanism of Action
Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid which decreases inflammation by inhibiting the migration of leukocytes and reversal of increased capillary permeability. It suppresses normal immune response.
Gatifloxacin promotes breakage of double-stranded DNA in susceptible organisms and inhibits DNA gyrase, which is essential in reproduction of bacterial DNA.
