Indications
L-Ret Cream is used for:
Skin and nail fungal infections, Tinea pedis, Tinea cruris, Tinea corporis, Candidiasis, Pityriasis versicolor
Adult Dose
Topical/Cutaneous Skin and nail fungal infections: Adult: Apply 2 or 3 times daily.
Onychomycosis: for 6 months. Tinea pedis & Dermatomycoses: for 4 weeks.
Child Dose
Tinea Corporis/Tinea Pedis
Apply to affected area q12hr for 4 weeks
Tinea Cruris
>2 years: Apply to affected area q12hr for 2 weeks
Candidiasis
Gently massage sufficient clotrimazole into affected and surrounding area q12hr; reconsider diagnosis if no improvement after 4 weeks
Tinea Versicolor
Gently massage sufficient clotrimazole into affected and surrounding area q12hr; reconsider diagnosis if no improvement after 4 weeks

Contra Indications
Hypersensitivity.
Precautions
Avoid contact with eyes upon topical application. Childn <3 yrs. Pregnancy, lactation.If local intolerance develops, consider withdrawal of the medicine and institution of appropriate therapy.
Lactation: Excretion in milk unknown; use with caution
Pregnancy-Lactation
Pregnancy category B during 2nd and 3rd trimester; safety in 1st trimester not established
Interactions
Antagonism with polyene antibiotics.
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Clotrimazole 1% Topical :
Elevated serum AST (SGOT) concentrations (15%)
Topical: Erythema, stinging, irritation; hypersensitivity reactions; contact dermatitis.
Edema, Pruritus, Burning, Stinging, Peeling, Urticaria, Skin fissures
Mechanism of Action
Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal which binds to phospholipids in the cell membrane altering cell wall permeability causing a loss in essential intracellular elements.
