Indications
Protek Ointment is used for:
Haemorrhoids (internal or external), anal fissure, proctitis & periproctitis.
Adult Dose
Rectal
Apply 2 or 3 times daily and after each bowel movement
Child Dose

Hypersensitivity. Viral/fungal infections, tubercular or syphilitic lesions

Zinc oxide reduce therapeutic efficacy of hydroxyquinoline.
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Allantoin + Hydrocortisone + Lidocaine + Zinc oxide rectal prep :
Dermal atrophy, local irritation, folliculitis, hypertrichosis.
Mechanism of Action
Lidocaine is an amide type local anaesth.
Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid used for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Its anti-inflammatory action is due to the suppression of migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and reversal of increased capillary permeability.
Allantoin acts as a skin protectant to moisturize and accelerate wound healing and closure of chronic wounds associated with epidermolysis bullosa
Zinc oxide has astringent, soothing and protective properties and is used in topical preparations for eczema, slight excoriations, wounds and haemorrhoids.
