Indications
Tuspel Plus Expectorant Oral Solution is used for:
Cough associated with lower respiratory tract infections, bronchial asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis, eosinophilia.

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Adverse Effects
Side effects of Ammonium chloride + Terbutaline + Bromhexine hydrochloride + Menthol :
Tachycardia, nervousness, tremor, palpitations, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, restlessness, lethargy, drowsiness, weakness, flushes, sweating, chest discomfort, muscle cramps, tinnitus. Rarely, seizures, hypersensitivity vasculitis, elevated liver enzymes.
Mechanism of Action
Ammonium chloride is used as an expectorant in cough medicine. Its expectorant action is caused by irritative action on the bronchial mucosa, which causes the production of excess respiratory tract fluid and make it easier to cough it up.
Terbutaline stimulates intracellular adenyl cyclase, the enzyme that catalyses the conversion of ATP to cyclic-3, 5-adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) resulting in relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and inhibition of release of mediators of immediate hypersensitivity from mast cells.
Bromhexine enhances mucus transport by reducing mucus viscosity and by activating the ciliated epithelium (mucociliary clearance). This secretolytic and secretomotor effect in the bronchial tract area relieves cough and facilitates expectoration.
