Indications
Udilan Tablet is used for:
Peripheral vascular disease, relief of symptoms associated with cerebrovascular insufficiency, and premature labor.
Adult Dose
Adult: PO- Peripheral vascular disease: The recommended dose is 10-20 mg 3-4 times/day.
IV/IM- To arrest premature labour- The recommended dose is 200-500 mcg/min via IV infusion until control is achieved, then 10 mg 3-8 hourly via IM inj for several days.
Child Dose
Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.

Administration
May taken with or without food
Contra Indications
Contraindicated in patients with history of arterial bleeding, immediately after childbirth and labor.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of bleeding problems, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It may cause dizziness, advice not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

Adverse Effects
Side effects of Isoxsuprine HCl :
Central Nervous System - Dizziness.
Heart - Low blood pressure, palpitations, fast heart rate, lung swelling and flushing.
Gastrointestinal - Nausea, vomiting and abdominal distress.
Miscellaneous - Rash and allergic reactions such as hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest.
Mechanism of Action
Isoxsuprine is an α-receptor antagonist with β-receptor agonist action. It causes peripheral and cerebral vasodilatation by directly acting on vascular smooth muscle. It also causes cardiac and uterine relaxation.
