Indications
Benzocaine + Chlorbutol + Paradichlorobenzene + Turpentine Oil Ear prep is used for:
Ceruminous plugging of ear, to soften & remove intractable & inspissated cerumen.
Adult Dose
Instill 5-10 drops into the affected ear 2-3 times a day and allow contact for 10-20 minutes and overnight. Continue for 2-3 days, if necessary.

Mechanism of Action
Paradichlorobenzene is a chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon that helps remove ear wax.
Benzocaine is the ethyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). It can be prepared from PABA and ethanol. Benzocaine is a local anesthetic that helps to numb the pain and itching.
Chlorobutanol, or trichloro-2-methyl-2-propanol, is a chemical preservative, sedative hypnotic and weak local anaesthetic similar in nature to chloral hydrate. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Turpentine is composed of terpenes, mainly the monoterpenes alpha-pinene and beta-pinene with lesser amounts of carene, camphene, dipentene, and terpinolene.
