Indications
Betamethasone 0.05% + Calcipotriol 0.005% is used for:
Psoriasis
Adult Dose
Adult: Topical : >18 yr: Apply once daily up to 4 wk. Max: 100 g/wk.
Child Dose
Renal Dose

Contra Indications
Known or suspected disorders of calcium metabolism. Patients with erythrodermic, exfoliative and pustular psoriasis.
Precautions
Not to be used on face, axillae or groin. Not to be applied to more than 30% of the body surface area. Monitor serum calcium levels; treatment should be temporarily discontinued if levels exceeded normal range. Prolonged usage or concurrent use with occlusive dressings may increase absorption of the drugs into the systemic circulation. Regular monitoring for evidence of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression is recommended. Efficacy and safety have not been evaluated in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. Adverse Effects
Side effects of Betamethasone 0.05% + Calcipotriol 0.005% :
Pruritus, rash, burning sensation of the skin, dry skin, erythema, rash, dermatitis, eczema, photosensitivity and hypersensitivity reactions. May aggravate psoriasis.
Mechanism of Action
Betamethasone dipropionate is a synthetic corticosteroid that has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive properties. Calcipotriol is a vitamin D analogue. It may induce differentiation and suppress proliferation of keratinocytes.
