Mechanism of Action
Hypromellose and Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium are polymer in nature. It is a clear and colorless aqueous solution. This medication lubricates the surface of the eye in the same way as natural tears. It can therefore be used to relieve the dryness and pain associated with reduced or abnormal tear production.
Hypromellose stabilises and thickens the precorneal tear film and prolongs the tear film breakup time thereby promoting corneal wetting. It also lubricates and protects the eye.
