Indications
Chlorpheniramine maleate + Ammonium chloride + Sodium citrate + Menthol is used for:
Cough for respiratory allergic states
Expectoration cough
Adult Dose
Syrup
Adult: 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5-10ml) 3-4 times daily
Child Dose
Syrup
Children: ½ -1 teaspoonful (2.5-5ml) 3-4 times daily

Side effects of Chlorpheniramine maleate + Ammonium chloride + Sodium citrate + Menthol :
Dry mouth, nose, and throat , upset stomach , headache, chest congestion, diarrhea
Mechanism of Action
Chlorpheniramine Maleate binds to the histamine H1 receptor. This block the action of endogenous histamine, which subsequently leads to temporary relief of the negative symptoms brought on by histamine.
Sodium Citrate is believed to increase bronchial secretion by salt action. They are direct acting.
Ammonium Chloride is gastric irritant but reflex enhance bronchial secretion & sweating.
