Indications

Clotrimazole vaginal prep is used for: Vulvovaginal candidiasis

Adult Dose

Vaginal Vulvovaginal candidiasis Adult: Vaginal Candidiasis Cream/Ointment (1%): Insert 1 applicator full daily, preferably at bedtime, for 7-14 days Cream/Ointment (2%): Insert 1 applicator full daily, preferably at bedtime, for 3 consecutive days

Child Dose

<12 years Safety and efficacy not established

Hypersensitivity.

Precautions

Avoid contact with eyes upon topical application. Childn <3 yrs. Pregnancy, lactation.

Interactions

Antagonism with polyene antibiotics.

Mechanism of Action

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal which binds to phospholipids in the cell membrane altering cell wall permeability causing a loss in essential intracellular elements.
