Mechanism of Action

Benzalkonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium antiseptic and disinfectant. It is active against bacteria and some viruses, fungi and protozoa. The exact mechanism of bactericidal action is unknown but is thought to be due to enzyme inactivation. Choline salicylate alleviates pain by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and reduce fever by acting on the hypothalamus heat-regulating center. It also blocks the generation of impulses.
