Indications
Lignocaine+ Benzalkonium + Cholinesalicylate oral prep is used for:
Temporary relief of pain caused by recurrent mouth ulcers, denture irritation.

Contra Indications
Hypersensitivity. Allergy to salicylate (eg, aspirin), lignocaine; active peptic ulcer; herpes infection & influenza in childn; bronchial asthma. Childn <4 mth.
Precautions
Prolonged use. Pregnancy & lactation.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Interactions
Salicylates may enhance the effect of anticoagulants & inhibit the action of uricosurics.

Mechanism of Action
Benzalkonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium antiseptic and disinfectant. It is active against bacteria and some viruses, fungi and protozoa. The exact mechanism of bactericidal action is unknown but is thought to be due to enzyme inactivation.
Choline salicylate alleviates pain by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and reduce fever by acting on the hypothalamus heat-regulating center. It also blocks the generation of impulses.
