Indications
Pyritinol is used for:
Cerebrovascular and mental function disorders
Adult Dose
Oral

Adult: 600 mg daily, given in 3 divided doses.
Child Dose

Administration
Should be taken with food. Take w/ a large glass of water. Swallow whole, do not chew/ crush.
Contra Indications
Precautions
Rheumatoid arthritis.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Interactions
Concomitant therapy with gold, levamisole or D-penicillamine.
Adverse Effects
Side effects of Pyritinol :
Epigastric distress; anorexia; nausea; vomiting; headache; insomnia; pruritus and rash; restlessness.
Potentially Fatal: Acute pancreatitis, severe cholestatic hepatitis.
Mechanism of Action
Pyritinol improves cerebral function in patients with cerebral dysfunction. Memory and coordination improved. Promotes glucose reuptake by the brain and has been used in various cerebrovascular disorders.
