Indications

Sodium Hyaluronate + Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate Eye drop is used for: Cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. Anterior segment surgery, Cornea transplant surgery, Glaucoma surgery.

Adult Dose

Depending on surgical procedure used. Recommended for single use. Inj into the chamber prior to or following delivery of the crystalline lens.

There are no known contraindications.

Precautions

Precautions are limited to those normally associated with the surgical procedure being performed. Although sodium hyaluronate and sodium chondroitin sulfate are highly purified biological polymers, the physician should be aware of the potential allergic risks inherent in the use of any biological material.

Sodium hyaluronate....... The safety and effectiveness of the use of sodium hyaluronate concomitantly with other intra-articular injection has not yet been established. As sodium hyaluronate is precipitated by quaternary amine bactericides or disinfectants eg, benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine, etc, adequate attention should be given. Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate..........Low potential for interactions. Cumarinic anticoagulants eg warfarin, platelet antiaggregant; tetracyclines

Mechanism of Action

Sodium hyaluronate is a polysaccharide which functions as a tissue lubricant. It is widely used in ophthalmic surgery because it forms a viscoelastic solution in water which makes it a suitable substitute for aqueous and vitreous humour. Cartilage derivative; component of hyaline cartilage matrix that may repair cartilage & reduce synovial inflammation.
