Indications

Dandrop Lotion is used for: Dandruff and Seborrhoeic Dermatitis of scalp.

Adult Dose

On wet hair and scalp apply shampoo/lotion and leave for a minute. Rinse with warm water. Repeat procedure and leave shampoo for 3-5 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry hair.

Clean and thoroughly dry the area to be treated. Wash hands before and after applying this medication. Apply it to the affected skin and also to a small amount of the normal skin next to this area

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity to any ingredient in ketoconazole gel and pyrithione zinc shampoo gel

Precautions

Use this medication on the scalp and skin only. Avoid using in the eyes, nose, or mouth.

Side effects of Ketoconazole + Zinc pyrithione Topical : Burning, redness, or dryness of the treated skin may occur.

Mechanism of Action

Ketoconazole interferes w/ biosynthesis of triglycerides and phopholipids by blocking fungal CYP450, thus altering cell membrane permeability in susceptible fungi. It also inhibits other fungal enzymes resulting in the accumulation of toxic concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. Zinc pyrithione Binds to hair and external skin layers; reduces turnover rate of cells; toxicity nonspecific for epidermal cells; cytostatic agent.
