Mechanism of Action
Lercanidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It inhibits influx of Ca into cardiac and smooth muscle, causing relaxation of vascular smooth muscle thus reducing peripheral vascular resistance and BP.
Atenolol selectively and competitively blocks β1-adrenergic receptors but has little or no effect on β2-receptors except at high doses. It has negative inotropic effects without intrinsic sympathomimetic and membrane-stabilising activities.
